Our story · since Budapest

Christian singles need more real chances to meet each other

Rooted and Ready exists because the practical question is rarely answered: where, exactly, are Christian singles supposed to meet?

The calling

It started as a prompting in Budapest

The idea began as a prompting to create a Christian singles night while living in Budapest. It was not acted on immediately, but the calling persisted, and became especially strong around the Central Eastern European mission conference in Slovenia.

What we kept noticing

Many Christian singles, particularly around 28 or 30 and older, want marriage but feel increasingly discouraged. Dating apps dominate, modern dating is highly sexualised, and churches often teach about relationships and personal growth without answering the practical question of where and how singles actually meet.

The evening we wanted to create

A date-night environment where singles can eat, talk, laugh, meet several people, and practise discernment, without treating every conversation as a relationship or moving toward physical intimacy.

Why not traditional speed dating

We like the concept, but three or four minutes is too short for genuine connection. We keep the structured one on one idea and give the evening more warmth, context and breathing room.

Why icebreakers matter

Many singles who struggle to meet people are introverted or simply out of practice. The structure helps you enter the room and take part without needing to be naturally outgoing.

Faith and marriage

We believe Christian relationships and marriage can glorify God, and we would rather speak hope than fear. Use discernment, keep your boundaries, be patient, and stay willing to meet people.

Host and founder

Marketty Ibukun Bleck

Marketty is the founder and host of Rooted & Ready. She created it from a desire to see a welcoming space where Christian singles could meet intentionally, enjoy meaningful conversation and build genuine connections rooted in faith for the glory of God.

On the night, she is the one bringing the room together, making introductions and ensuring no one is left standing alone. Alongside her is a dedicated team of volunteers, musicians, photographers and hosts who help create the warmth and care behind every Rooted & Ready experience.

Rooted & Ready is an initiative of Ibukun Agape Services Inc., a U.S.-based nonprofit organization.
